We have been buying Jumper 1234 for a number of seasons now, initially just for Fall/Winter, but we now buy throughout the year. Each piece we buy is made to order, so production is very limited in the styles and colours we choose.
Founded in 2014 by a team of friends with a shared desire to create no fuss, core pieces that would sit timelessly, wear effortlessly and still excite women by looking great and feeling even better. It is designed in London with a contemporary edge and a ‘playful heart’. Production is based in Mongolia, the home of the very best cashmere.
Jumper 1234 uses raw cashmere, which is carefully refined to filter anything other than the purest fibres. The cashmere comes from a vast countryside which supports the lives of the nomadic herdsmen of Mongolia and their families.
The herdsmen of Outer Mongolia are as passionate about their cashmere as Jumper 1234 are. The relationships between the buyers and the herdsmen is crucial. In most cases, the herdsmen rely on the income received from this to sustain their way of life.
The cashmere is combed out of the goat in March each year after the harsh winter has finished. Mongolian cashmere is naturally sustainable; the fibre is only removed once the goats begin to moult naturally and then removed using traditional hand combing.
The pieces we have in the shop are not just the result of talented technologists, they are the workings of artisans who have years of experience knitting cashmere. Real craftsmanship goes into the making of every Jumper, which is also, quite brilliantly, machine washable.
The production is based in Ulaan Baatar, the capital of Mongolia, situated between the great land masses of China and Russia.
