How long has The Hambledon Gallery been going?

The shop first opened in 1962 as an artists’ meeting place and then a gallery. Over the years it has grown into the lifestyle shop it is today.

Where does the name The Hambledon Gallery come from?

The shop was originally an artists’ meeting place and then an art gallery, which is why it is a ‘gallery’.  There is a hill near by called Hambledon Hill, which is the reason for the ‘Hambledon’ bit.

Can I visit the shop?

We’d love to see you.  The website holds only a fraction of what we have for sale in the Blandford shop. You can visit us from Monday to Saturday 9am to 5.30pm. Through December we open on Sundays from 12 to 4pm.  We also have special events including discount evenings and sale previews, so it’s worth signing up to our mailing list.  You can do that here, we won’t bombard you.

What are the opening times of the shop?

The shop opens 9am to 5.30pm Monday to Saturday.  Through December we open on Sundays from 12 to 4pm. Please call us on 01258 452880 if you have any queries.

Can I park near the shop?

There is lots of long stay parking in Blandford, but the closest is just up the road from the shop on Salisbury Street, which is free for one hour.

Can I buy clothes online?

We’re sorry we don’t offer this through our website at the moment.  We do sell accessories online and we would be really happy to see you in the shop where you can look through and try things on.  Part of what people love about the shop is the one to one attention you receive when it comes to buying clothes from us.  If you have already been into the shop and seen something you’d like, or know we sell something you have seen elsewhere, we would be very happy to post it to you.  Please call the shop on 01258 452880 during normal opening hours Monday to Saturday 9am to 5.30pm.

What is your returns policy?

Obviously, we hope that anything you buy through the site is exactly what you wished for.  If for any reason you need to return it, please do so within 14 days of the date of the order and we will refund you. Please ensure that any items are returned in their original packaging with labels attached and of original saleable condition.  Please enclose your order number and ensure that you obtain proof of postage.  Returns should be sent to the shop address 40-44 Salisbury Street, Blandford, Dorset, DT11 7PR.

Is there somewhere for lunch or coffee near by?

The award winning Yellow Bicycle Cafe is just down the road.  Steve and his team make locally sourced breakfasts, lunches and cakes.  He is open Tuesday to Saturday.  He can get pretty busy and everything is made to order.

The closest to us is The Forum Cafe, run by the very lovely Terry.  If you’re after a good coffee and cake, he’s worth a visit.  He does a lovely bowl of soup and a great cheese scone.  The Forum is open Monday to Saturday and is on the corner of Salisbury Street and The Plocks.

Badger Beer has been brewed in Blandford since 1777 by Hall & Woodhouse.  Their flagship venue is The Crown. Recently refurbished it’s a good place for lunch and when the sun is shining you can grab a seat outside in the garden and enjoy a beer made in their brewery by the River Stour in town.
